Small Group Ministry Report
MARCH 2017
The Fall Session had 44 groups participating in a study. The church-wide study on War Room had 41 groups participate. Three groups did not do War Room, they did a different study. Over 500 people participated in the fall session. Session ran the week of September 18th finishing up the week of October 16th.
The Winter Session as of this writing has 32 groups participating in a study of their choice. Twelve groups have either decided to take a break or have not selected their study for this session. The Winter Session for most groups will finish up around Lent. This session started the week of January 15th and will run to the week of February 26th. Some have selected to do a study on Lent. A Lenten study will be offered on Tuesday evening and Wednesday afternoon at the church for anyone to join. The session will start the week of March 5th and finish up before Easter.
January 3rd marked the first annual, meeting/appreciation dinner of all the Group Leaders. The meeting was information and many ideas were shared.
The ministry has expanded with the introduction of a Movie Library and a College Connection Group. The movie library can be utilized by viewing the selection of movies available outside the Small Group office, once you select the movie you can stop in the small group office or email Nettie and the movie is then loaned out for group or individual watching for one week. The College Connection is a group of college students whose names were submitted to Nettie to receive a weekly email with a Devotion, Bible verse and Prayer. They also receive themed care packages in the mail. There are 18 students in this group.
Over the past several months I have been working on a spread sheet of all the available Bible Studies that have been purchased and reviewed over the years. To date there are close to 400 studies available. The plan is to have a picture/color review of all studies available for view by the end of the summer months.
I continue to seek out and review new studies as they become available. I review every DVD and complete every study to make sure it is appropriate to offer to our members. I am in the process of selecting and completing a fall (2017) “church wide” study on Martin Luther in celebration of the 500 Year Reformation Anniversary.
I review and find concerts and events in the area that I have organized for groups to go and enjoy together. I will continue to seek out local concerts and events to inform our members of the area happenings. As of now I am working on the Iron Sharpens Iron men’s conference coming up in February.
I gather the news articles and calendar dates from the various ministries to create the monthly calendar and the Trinity “Alive” bulletin. I also complete the Worship Assistant Schedule and keep track of the dates they are available and seek new volunteers as needed. This is done on a monthly basis.
